Nic Colarossi

I am Nic Colarossi, an electric bassist/pianist based in Philadelphia, PA. This site is for me to share some of the projects I’m working on, to offer some services, and share some of my interests. I’m into a variety of topics including: being a music (+theory) nerd, photography, US coins, Japanese language study, radio and more. I have a music degree from Rollins College in central Florida, and recently moved to Philadelphia in 2020 (and love it here).

As a bassist, I am a strong sight reader and generally pick up gigs for theaters, top 40, and jazz. I have been playing for 10 years and have experience performing with a wide variety of groups. Playing music in church is something that I’m passionate about and have been involved with for 5+ years, this encompassing everything from gospel to CCM.

In addition to performing and teaching music, I also take photos which are here. Generally, I am the resident tech nerd of any group I’m in. I’m knowledgeable regarding music tech and more generally Apple devices, phones, PCs, etc. Additionally, I plan to use this site to drop some other things I’m working on or interested in.

While at Rollins I was the manager of our college radio station, WPRK 91.5FM. Here I learned valuable skills about radio and managing people. As one of the few remaining freeform college radio stations, I strove to uphold the station’s traditionally eclectic vibe while modernizing certain processes. I got us set up using radio automation and managed a large team of staff and volunteers. I also took great joy in playing 20 minute Mogwai tunes on FM radio at 2am on a Wednesday. Announcing on air and working as manager to improve WPRK was a great pleasure.
